Mention Pico and chances are you’ll think of something small. Guess there isn’t any prizes up for grabs if you manage to figure out just what the Pico USB flash drive is like!
No exception, this little drive is the smallest we’ve ever seen. Barely bigger than the tip of your pinky, and less than 4mm thick, it’s positively small. The polished chrome finish is certainly shiny, but at 8 gigabytes, it’s redonkulously teeny! Store four full length ripped movies, five days worth of music, more than four-thousand 5 megapixel photos, or eighty-meters worth of shelved books. Sure, it’s so small you could easily lose it, so we’ve included a chain to help keep it around.
It measures 31.3mm x 12.4mm x 3.4mm and comes in a polished chrome finish, and being shock- and water-resistant, it makes me feel much more secure knowing that my data inside is safe. Now if only there is a way NOT to lose this $49.99 device…

The Un-ltd PRO-MC (UNX-8507) is a digital camera accessory, being a magnifying glass that is meant for use with digital cameras that feature 3″ LCD monitors. The function of this magnifying glass is to increase the image so that you will be able to make a better judgement before each photo is taken. I don’t think it is that essential unless you’re attending photography classes and know more stuff than the casual shutterbug. Features include multiple coating lens on both sides, letting the magnifying glass cut excessive light to produce a quality magnified image. You will be able to purchase the rubber UNX-8507 magnifying glass in Japan for $47.

This transparent toaster you see here is the DT08 slide toaster concept that could actually function as well as it looks. According to Daniel Thomas’s concept design, the toasting element is retained, allowing you to know by sight whether your toast is about to be badly burnt or not instead of relying on your sense of smell.

After announcing plans to open up the Internet past the 21 current top-level domains, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has suffered an embarrassing hack.
The hack also affected the Internet Assigned Names Authority (IANA) and was carried out by the Turkish group NetDevilz. Those visiting either site while the hack was active were redirected to an atspace.com hosted site. The message put there by the NetDevilz group read as follows:
# NeTDevilz #
You think that you control the domains but you don’t! Everybody knows wrong. We control the domains including ICANN!
Don’t you believe us?
haha

We’re not first,But We’re the BEST!
At the time of writing neither ICANN or IANA had released a statement relating to the attacks.

Matthew’s Opinion
The timing and the nature of the attack are both embarrassing, especially for ICANN after their big announcement this week. I’m sure the web admins have had an earful from management and any individual that left the door open for the attack, if there is one, may also be suffering next week.
The one thing you need from the companies that control the Internet is integrity and a feeling of safety. This shows that they have been sloppy in the handling of their own website and this must taint their reputation, however temporarily. The site is back up now so the problem was dealt with quickly, which is something at least.
ICANN hope to cover the US$10 million they say it will cost for the new top-level domain management with very high fees, but they should probably funnel some of that money into their website backend and security.

Sony hasn’t forgotten about you loyal mylo 2 (er, COM-2 mylo) owners just yet, as a recently rolled out software update provides a nice list of extras for those who care. Revision 1.201, which is only available for the latest of mylos, adds support for video recording, provides a new menu for “easier photo and video uploading,” adds a function for formatting Memory Stick Duo media, adds support for 16GB MD Duo cards and improves Flash playback of YouTube videos. The upgrade also adds support for WMV files and the SHOUTcast widget while improving “system stability.” The download is slightly hefty at just under 60MB, so head on down and get the new stuff headed your way.
[Thanks, shanne]

One thing which has always been frustrating about signing up for wireless service in the U.S. is that if you ever switch carriers you usually can’t bring the mobile phone you already purchased with you. The latest announcement by MetroPCS Communications will change all that through a new service called MetroFlash.
MetroFlash will allow subscribers the ability to use their existing CDMA handsets on the MetroPCS network. This will eliminate the need for customers to purchase a new handset if they don’t want one. Those signing up for the MetroFlash service pay just US$40 a month in addition to a US$30 fee to receive unlimited local, long distance, text messaging and voicemail. Another incentive for subscribers is that MetroPCS does not require a signed contract.
Considering the customer segment that MetroPCS is marketing to; there is a huge incentive not to make them have to purchase new hardware just to use their network. This move by MetroPCS may lead many wireless carriers in the United States to consider a similar service to attract customers.
Of course, the downside of supporting handsets from other carriers has always been the ability to maintain technical support for the phone in addition to ensuring continued quality for calls.
Read more from the MetroPCS press release.

If you are a child of the eighties, you are probably all too familiar with Michael Knight and his talking car, KITT - the super computer built into an ‘83 model Trans AM. And if you were like most teens at the time, you probably wanted to buy your very own talking Trans Am just like it with ”Turbo Boost” button and all.
Well - for a lot of us that dream never came to be realized. But for those fans of Knigth Rider, Mio has developed a GPS to help you relive that dream of owning KITT, no matter what vehicle you drive.
Like most GPS systems, the Knight Rider GPS features a viewscreen/touch pad and helps you find you way around driving your car with audible voice cues. What seperates this GPS from the rest, is that the device uses several phrases done by the voice of the original KITT himself, William Daniels, in conjunction with flashing red lights and the swooping KITT noise. As good as this sounds, however, the travel directions of this GPS are given by another male voice so you don’t hear Daniels all the time.
The folks over at DVICE gave the Knight Rider GPS a test run so you can see it in action. It looks sweet enough, but chances are if you aren’t a fan of the original series, you probably won’t buy one. But for the rest of us - we can pretend we’re cruising down the road in that suped-up, talking Trans AM.
Be looking for the Knight Rider GPS from Mio around August with a pricetag around $270 Dollars.
