Getting pressured by eBay into proving its worth seems to be working well with Skype. After recently offering unlimited calls to their users at an affordable rate, Skype is making headway yet again with the beta release of their mobile client. The Skype for Mobile now works with around fifty Java-enabled phones worldwide. Yes, this new service works with incoming calls from Skype and SkypeIn features. It also features chat, chat group and Skype presence.
In addition, Skype for Mobile features Skype-to-Skype and SkypeOut calls for mobile handsets, but only for Brazil, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Sweden and the UK.
If you want to give Skype for Mobile a spin, as I know you really want to just like me, you can either download the application directly into your mobile phone or download it into your computer before transferring it into your mobile phone. And if you are not sure whether your mobile phone supports Skype-for-Mobile, you may check out the Skype-for-Mobile site and look into the directory of mobile phones supporting this Skype mobile client.

It always fascinates me that you can take something, make it look old and it’s suddenly cool because it’s “retro.” Aside from the ability to create mix tapes, there wasn’t anything cool about the cassette tape that I ever saw. This Cassette MP3 player would probably be the closest thing to cool that the cassette tape will ever get.
What makes this device cool is that it can act as both a stand-alone mp3 player and as a cassette tape. If you actually still have a stereo that takes the old tapes, you can put this in and it will play just the same. It’ll set you back $40, which is a bit steep considering the fact that you’ll need to supply your own SD card to store the music.

The popular iriver PMP, the E100, is set to undergo a makeover and should return as a brand new player, either the E150 or the E200. One of the main differences that you will notice between the E100 and the new version, is the difference in the exterior. It will lose the plastic, and return with a nicer aluminum outside, something reminiscent of the silver ipod Nano.
Upon turning on the device, you will also notice the LCD screen to be much brighter and better than the original. Another notable difference, which you may like, or may not, is that the E100 is going to lose the two miniature speakers located on the back of the device. Now, I kind of like MP3 players with built-in speakers, I don’t always like having to use headphones whenever I want to listen to music. However, sometimes people blast their mini speakers and especially if it’s in public it gets annoying. So this goes both ways, depending on your personal preferences and how annoying this is for you.
So far, this is all that is known about the E150 or the E200, expect these to be available in the summer. Stay tuned to find out more when the news becomes available.

Mother’s Day can get a little bit less stressful with the Find One Find All Key Finder (FOFA), where mom can hook up these small 2-way wireless devices to her keys, purse, hubby’s keys, cell phones, TV remotes and virtually any other device she wants to keep track of. Just push a single button and the mislaid item can be found, doing away with the need to raise a ruckus in front of the kids on who was the last person to make use of the remote. The FOFA-XD comes in two formats, where one is a key fob about the size of a small car remote while the other is a flat credit card size wallet version. A two-pack of FOFA-XD Key finder costs $24.95, and ships with batteries and the necessary instructions.

We’re surprised this hasn’t been though up before, which means it probably isn’t as simple as it sounds. MIRA’s got a new plug-in hybrid in the works that skips the whole plug aspect. Instead of plugging the whole car into an outlet, you can pull out any of the three battery packs in the trunk and hook ‘em into the wall. That means the car doesn’t have to have direct access to a plug to be able to juice up, you just take the batteries to where the power’s at and commence charging. They’re calling the system H4V, and are powering the unit on lithium ion phosphate batteries. MIRA expects the retrofit to an existing car to cost about £2000 (around $3950 US).

With half my family living halfway around the world, I quickly embraced Skype, the program (or if you want to get technical, Voice Over Internet Protocol) that allows you to talk to other Skype users over your computer, for free. In fact, I’m always amazed that more of my friends and family haven’t signed up… it’s almost like they don’t want to chat to me for hours or something.
Anyway, despite Skype calls being free to other Skype users, if you wanted to use your account to call landlines or mobile phones in the past, you would still have to pay - and the cost would depend on the length of the call and where you were calling. But no more! Skype’s new calling plan aims to encourage more people to pick up the service, and it sounds like a bargain to me.
Pay just $9.95 per month and you can make an unlimited number of calls to landlines in 34 countries, including the United States, Canada, most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Malaysia. Calls to cells in the US and Canada, China, Hong Kong and Singapore and also included.
With Skype phones now meaning you don’t even need to be connected to your computer to make a call, I hope all you holdouts will be rushing to sign up when this new service is made available on Monday.

Besides being infuriated with leaving over a billion dollars on the table this past holiday season, Nintendo of America is also “passionately upset about the lack of product relative to demand.” Those words came straight from Mr. Reggie Fils-Aime himself, who noted that North America was the only Wii-serviced territory where supply and demand were still out of sync. Reportedly, some 40-percent of the 1.8 million Wii consoles manufactured each month are making their way over, but even after 17 months on the market, the average Wii sits around on retail shelves for “just an hour before [it is] purchased.” Unfortunately, we’re no closer to being able to clone the consoles in order to meet the insatiable appetite.
