Kissphone Arrives Too Late for Valentine’s Day

As soon as I saw freelance inventor George Koussouros’ newest invention, the KissPhone, I had the exact same reaction you had: “Eeuwwww”.

Okay, I wasn’t able to spell that interjection well, but I believe that if you were creeped out by the KissPhone, then you’re probably pretty normal.

The purpose of the KissPhone is, you guessed it, a way to transmit a kiss from one person to the other. All you need to do is press your lips against the Mick Jagger souvenir there, and the artificial mouth somehow detects percussion speed, pressure, temperature, and sucking force of the lips. Then send it over the wireless network for another person’s pleasure.

In other words, you now have a legitimate reason to make out with your cellular phone. Yeah, you might not want to do that in public. What would you call that, a WPDA? (Wireless Public Display of Affection, gross!)

Oh, I haven’t told you the best part. If you want a kiss from Madonna or your favorite “imaginary Hero”, you can get it from the “kiss bank”. I have no idea how they got a “kiss recording” from the Material Girl, but you shouldn’t waste your life trying to figure out if the KissPhone did a legitimate job.

This is one of those products where I could really go on about how unnatural this is, and how we’re getting too infatuated with our technology, but I think this picture says ten thousand words.

IOGEAR’s PCPortal remote desktop KVM is a little less virtual

Posted Mar 10th 2008 4:27PM by Paul Miller
Filed under: Desktops, Laptops, Networking
Remote desktop clients are great for those one-in-a-million scenarios when your computer is working well enough to connect to the internet and run a remote desktop app, but still requires technical assistance. In contrast, IOGEAR gives IT types full control from boot with the spendy-but-useful PCPortal GCN1000. The internet-connected KVM switch is completely hardware-based, meaning the computer you’re controlling needs no working operating system to be taken control of, and IT people have about as much control over the remote PC as they would if sitting directly in front of it. You can also plug the GCN1000 into regular KVM switches to manage multiple computers remotely, as well as use the Virtual Media port to give remote users data straight from whatever’s plugged into the USB port. Unfortunately, all this hotness comes at a cost: the GCN1000 is available now for $500.

Cricket intro’s the CDM7126 by UTStarcom; world’s first CDMA AWS mobile phone

Cricket Communications has launched the world’s first CDMA Advanced Wireless Service (AWS) mobile phone - the UTStarcom CDM7126. The CDM7126 will also be available in other Cricket markets nationwide, but initially the launch is limited to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The CDM7126 was designed to operate on the new AWS spectrum band and also operates on the PCS and cellular bands. This allows the phone to work in all existing Cricket wireless markets that stretch from California to New York. The phone will be launched in other states later during the year.

Al Moschner, Cricket’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer said that his company is pleased to be the first to offer an AWS wireless phone to its customers.

“Taking this leadership position underscores our commitment to fostering product innovation by introducing CDMA’s first tri-band mobile device that enables multi-market use. This introduction marks the successful conclusion of two years of planning and development by UTStarcom and Cricket,” says Moschner.

The CDM7126 is a metallic, clamshell phone with external indicators. This alerts users of incoming calls and messages even if the clamshell phone is closed. Other features of the CDM7126 include; Bluetooth capability, voice recognition, predictive text input and mobile web capability. The CDM7126 will be available through various Cricket call plans starting at the lowest $35 per month.

Mooon+ Phone: Terrible Name, Great Gimmick

We don’t know why Sunman Kwon called his concept phone the Mooon+, but we like the design. The touchscreen handset incorporates a detachable Bluetooth headset with a foldout earpiece. The neatest part is that it charges from the phone when stowed, which means one less wall-wart to carry around.

This isn’t the first design from Kwon that we have covered, although – name aside – it’s the first practical one. Last October we took a look at his truly bizarre Finger-Touching, a laser keypad projected onto the hand.

Secret Service Invisible 2-Way Micro Headset - the smallest headset in the world.

Secret Service Invisible 2-Way Micro Headset - the smallest headset in the world.Mar 03, 2008
A unique gadget was recently presented to the community. Now we can definitely call it the smallest in the world and almost invisible, because when you put the device in your ear only a very attentive and too curious person will be able to notice it.

You need a mobile phone to plug in the wireless transmitter. In that way you will be able to receive or send any kind of information. So, let’s find out who may need such device.

At first, this can be a nice politicians’ helper. Their speech will be perfect: no missed dates, numbers or any other information. No one will notice or hear this prompting.

Then, such a helpful device will be very handy for spies during a very important operation.

Any person, on a date or ô business meeting, for example, can impress everyone around. No one will know that the necessary information and extraordinary facts will be prompted via Micro Headset.

Finally, any student dreams to have this gadget in his ear during exams.
This device is excellent, because it can’t be heard from outside while using it. Anyway, you can regulate the volume.

Speaking about all the advantages of the gadget, I must mention that it is not widely available. Its price is 9.95. I think it is too much for the secret gadget, including the fact that a lot of people already know about it. But, on the other hand, sometimes the aim justifies means.

The Macbook Air Befuddles TSA

If you are flying with a Macbook Air, you might run into luddite TSA agents. They were completely unable to fathom it:

  • Wide Awake Developers: Steve Jobs Made Me Miss My Flight

Fortunately for Michael, a younger agent recognized it and explained it to the senior TSA agent. Unfortunately, it was too late for Michael to catch his flight.

The senior agent hasn’t been trained for technological change. New products on the market? They haven’t been TSA approved. Probably shouldn’t be permitted. He requires me to open the “device” and run a program. I do, and despite his inclination, the lead agent decides to release me and my troublesome laptop. My flight is long gone now, so I head for the service center to get rebooked.

If you are flying with a macbook air, you should give yourself an extra hour to get through security just in case you encounter the same luddite TSA agents.

USB Webcam Rocket Launcher

Where would we be without Instant Messaging? It lets us stay in contact and chat with friends all over the world (especially delightful during work hours). But sometimes the urge to reach out a shoot someone is unbearable. And that’s where the USB MSN Missile Launcher comes in. Don’t be content with sharing images, jokes, and assorted links with your friends - it’s time to share missiles!

You’ll have your USB MSN Missile Launcher set up within minutes and that’s when the fun begins. For you see, as you chat you and your buddies can control each other’s launcher. And since each USB MSN Missile Launcher has an integrated webcam (which can be used as just a webcam if you haven’t any buddies), you’ll know exactly when you are aimed at your buddy’s head. Then fire away! The only downside is that your buddy can do the same to you! The upside is, you can always retaliate by turning your buddy’s USM MSN Missile Launcher to face the door of his office and peg his boss in the gut when he/she comes to lecture your buddy about using IM for non-work-related matters. Ah the joys of progress . . . and revenge.

Gimmie!
